Carlos Sainz has been handed a five grid place penalty by the FIA after he was deemed to be at fault for his incident with Kimi Antonelli in Austin.

The Spaniard attempted to make a move on the young Mercedes driver going into turn 15 on lap 7, however contact was made between the two.

It spun the Italian round but he was able to get going again, while for Carlos it spelled the end of the race.

The incident meant Carlos was unable to build on his P3 in the Sprint and he will now serve a five grid place penalty at the Mexico City Grand Prix.

As for Kimi, even though he was able to get going again, he was sent to the back of the pack and was only able to recover to finish P13.
